Privacy policy

Train Tracker (the website, the Android app and the Telegram bot) is an independent project, not affiliated with Bangladesh Railway. There are no accounts, no ads, no tracking or analytics tools, and no data is sold.

When you use the site or the app

  • The web server keeps ordinary request logs (IP address, browser type, page) to keep the site running and safe; the log files are rotated and overwritten (usually within two weeks). Location-sharing requests are logged without any IP address.
  • Your browser or the app keeps a few settings — language, followed trains, your station and a random device ID. They stay on your phone.
  • Some outside services help show the pages and can see your IP address: Cloudflare (delivery and protection), Google Fonts (fonts), OpenStreetMap (map tiles) and unpkg (map styles).

When you share your location (only if you choose to)

  • While "I'm on this train" is on, your phone's position, speed, direction and accuracy are sent; "I'm at a station" sends your position once. With them go the random device ID and a scrambled form of your network address (so one network is counted once).
  • "Share your live location" first sends your position once, without the device ID, so the app can suggest the train you are on or the station you are at; that lookup is answered and forgotten. Nothing else is sent until you pick one.
  • This lives in the server's memory only — no database — and is deleted on its own: positions within 10 minutes, the delay measured from them and station check-ins within 3 hours; a scrambled marker that stops the same check-in being counted twice stays up to 12 hours. Stopping the share deletes your positions at once.
  • When at least two independent sources agree, the train, station, date and that confirmed delay are kept for 180 days to show typical delays. No device, position or network address is kept with them.
  • Details: sharing your train's location.

Android app

The app shows this website. It asks for location only when you start sharing, and shows a notification while sharing so that it continues with the screen off — you can stop from the notification. It never asks for always-on background location. It has no ads or analytics tools.

Telegram bot

The bot uses the messages and locations you send only to answer and to place trains. Your Telegram ID is turned into a scrambled key kept in memory and forgotten 12 hours after your last message; /stop deletes your share and reports at once. Telegram carries the messages — its own privacy policy applies.

Your choices

There are no accounts and nothing is stored with your identity, so there is nothing left to delete on request. Stop sharing any time; clearing the site data in your browser or uninstalling the app removes the settings kept on your phone.

Children

The service is not directed at children under 13.
